National Hospice and Palliative Care Month

Thank You to Hospice Caregivers.

In honor of National Hospice & Palliative Care Month, HEALTHCAREfirst would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all you do to care for sick and terminal patients, and their families.

For so many patients, one of the reasons they elect hospice is to enable them to be at home with their loved ones. Over the past few years, almost 70% of hospice patients were able to die at home. Another 21% passed away in a Hospice inpatient facility. That represents nearly 90% of Hospice patients able to die in a non-acute care facility. While these numbers are represented in statistical percentages, it’s not lost that each of these figures represents people that were being taken care of by Hospice agencies.

This year, more than 1.5 million patients will be cared for by Hospice agencies throughout the nation. This means that tens of thousands of families will be impacted by the loss of a loved one – a loss that will be made easier through the compassion and care provided by Hospice caregivers.

Thank you for making a difference.
