Home health and hospice providers have until November 15, 2017 to implement and be in full compliance with the new emergency preparedness requirements. Now is the time for agencies to get ready!
CMS has developed an Emergency Preparedness Basic Surveyor Training Course to train surveyors on what to look for when evaluating providers for compliance with the emergency preparedness requirements. Because the regulations for each provider type share a majority of the same provisions, the training includes information for all provider types in one course.
The good news is that this training is available to home health and hospice providers as well. The 17-hour course is available on-demand and all agencies are encouraged to participate to learn directly from CMS what surveyors will be looking for when evaluating providers for compliance.
