CAHPS Hospice Survey Implementation.
Hospices will want to be reminded that the national implementation of the CAHPS Hospice Survey has begun. To meet the FY2017 requirements to qualify for the full APU, hospices are required to contract with an approved survey vendor to conduct a dry run of the survey for at least one month between now and March 2015.
This dry run will provide you and your survey vendor the opportunity to conduct a “trial run” of data collection procedures under test circumstances. This data will not be reported to CMS and will not be used for public reporting. For more information on conducting a dry run, click here.
On January 5, 2015, the CAHPS Hospice Survey Project Team posted technical corrections and clarifications to the CAHPS Hospice Survey Quality Assurance Guidelines V1.0 document. These corrections and clarifications include specific content items that required correction.
Medicare-certified hospices who have served fewer than 50 survey-eligible decedents/caregivers in the 2014 calendar year can apply for an exemption from CAHPS Hospice Survey CY 2015 data collection and reporting requirements.
The Participation Exemption for Size form is now available to complete and submit online to request exemption. This form must be submitted by August 12, 2015, however eligible hospices are encouraged to submit the form as soon as possible. To view and submit the form, click here.
